IMAGES FROM THE LANES STREET FAIR

This was a first for me, as I’ve never taken any photographs during the street fair in Norwich, I have to say that I had a great time and I managed a few pictures that I’m happy with.

I was using a combination of the Fujifilm 35mm 1.4 and the 50mm f1. What a beast of a lens the 50mm is, it’s just massive and very heavy, it’s not the fastest of focusing lenses and I have to say that I’m not surprised seeing the amount of glass the motor has to move. It’s focusing is ok if you are in good light, but as soon as the levels drop I have to say that it does hunt around and because of that I did miss a few shots. But when I slotted my old favourite lens on the xt5 (35mm 1.4) the camera became feathery light and I was in my element as this is my go to set up for street photography.

I met up with a photography friend of mine David, who suggested the previous week that the fair would make a good days photography, and he wasn’t wrong.

Of course it was the glasses that drew me to this picture, I couldn’t believe how colourful everybody was, which is why most of my pictures from the day are not black and white.

The fair has a lot of people from the arts promoting themselves and selling their art and also some great street food as well. If you’re ever in Norwich around the second weekend of July it’s well worth a visit.

50mm f1

I did find the 50mm quite a lump to use, but I thought the images were worth the effort of carrying around such a heavy lens.

As always here in England, we had a little bit of rain which gave the opportunity for some wet weather shots.

I will do my best to come and photograph the street fair again next year, and if you decide to go and you see me, come and say hello.
